Since there are questions on Hubert, here is some background: Hubert was found running on a street in Milton, Massachusetts and was taken in by a resident who called the shelter. Hubert has been with us for well over a year. We think he is about 2 1/2 to 3 years old; some people see Visla in him but he is listed as a pit bull terrier mix since we are not sure of the mix. Hubert can be anxious and when he is he gets jumpy and mouthy. Hubert also can be such a cuddle bug and clearly loves human touch and attention. He needs a calm, experienced owner that can make his life predictable. He needs someone who is around rather than someone at work for 8 hours a day. Hubert would likely be ok with bigger dogs if introduced patiently, but he is way too interested in cats and should not live with them. The fact that Hubert is part American Pit Bull Terrier and has some restrictions for an adoption make it difficult for him and others like him. His first adoption showed us he was too jumpy when excited for young children, and his second adoption showed us he needed a calm home with a routine and dog savvy handler.
Hubert is on his best behavior in a calm environment with people he can look to for guidance. He thrives when he knows what is expected of him.
We would love a foster or of course an adoption to get him into a home — if introduced patiently he would get likely along with dogs but do not know how long that process would take. But he has shown a very high prey drive with cats so that would not work.
Hubert is a good boy who seems invisible. Nancy is the ACO and coordinates the dog adoptions. (617) 698-0413.
